I bought a 2015 F-Type base that happened to have the R body kit on it, lowered half an inch, and an aftermarket exhaust system. This is my only car and daily driver.
In my 8 months of ownership I’ve learned a ton and would like to share a few things with potential owners.
This is the most sports car you can buy for less that 40k in many ways. Right now a Mustang, Camaro don’t even compare and you’ll have to go back a few years to get into a Porsche.
The buttons, this car has sticky buttons on the older models because the coating degrades. When searching convertibles will have it worse, hardtops less. Don’t be alarmed but know you’ll have to clean that up and the internet has many options.
People will ask about it. People will think it’s an exotic if you de-badge. I’ve had people think it was a Ferrari. People will ask you what you do for a living. I went to Jason’s Deli to get a sandwich and the cashier asked about my car. At first this is great but it’s something you’ll have to get use to.
I have the coupe and trunk space is okay for groceries and a carry on suitcase. Bought a sound bar and had to fit it on the passenger seat.
If you find a lower mileage (under 40k mile V6) the mechanical quality is fine. I haven’t had any major issues but during Texas summer’s I need to drive around in Dynamic mode to kick on the extra fan to keep the engine temp low.
GET THE PARKING SENSORS. I have the front and rear sensors with the back up camera and with the length of the hood the front sensors are amazing. The front sensors suck in the rain and be careful parking.
This can be a hard car to get in and out of. My car is lowered and thankfully I’m young enough that it isn’t an issue but try it out first. No point in buying a sick car but have to crawl out of it. P.S. tall people can ride around in this. I’m short but tall friends are no problem.
