Testosterone and luteal phase/PMDD
Post Body

I've been told and have thought for a long time that I have PMDD. I suspect I do have some sort of hormonal dysregulation and it does seem to follow the luteal cycle. I'm wondering whether any other trans guys experienced PMDD-like symptoms and what happened regarding that when they started testosterone. Or just how they managed it pre- or post-HRT.

I am currently on birth control to suppress it, and frankly it doesn't seem to be working, but I still wonder if any of you were on BC for PMDD - Did it work for you? Did you have to stop taking it once you started HRT? Did your PMDD get better after starting HRT?

I ask because I've recently seen two things on the internet - one saying that there is a biochemical/hormonal element to gender dysphoria, and the other was a comment from a person saying that their PMDD disappeared once they got on HRT.

I've been spending 2 to 3 weeks out of every month debilitatingly depressed, irritable, dysphoric, dissociative, and/or just physically sick, and I can't get ahold of a friggen GP to take the time to figure this out with me. I'm working on it but I figured I could also ask around a bit here. Any advice is appreciated.
