I have heard lots of negative things about androderm. My endocrinologist even said that I probably wouldn’t do well on the patch, and that I would probably have an even worse skin reaction from the adhesive and the stuff that they put in them to help the testosterone get into your skin.
Well, the first day seemed to go fine. There was no redness at all and it just hurt a little bit taking it off like you would expect it to, adhesive ripping a couple hairs off. Yes, it will be a challenge to remember where I have been placing the patches and remembering to rotate them around my body. But the androgel made my body so dry and itchy and I got little bumps all over my skin and hydrocortisone didn’t help at all.
My insurance covers both the gel and the patches, and they both cost the same as a bottle of testosterone would. It’s actually cheaper for me to be on the gel and patches because my insurance doesn’t cover needles, and I would have to pay for those out of pocket (even though you can get them in bulk for cheap it’s still an expense.) but the whole reason I’m on patches/gel to begin with is because after a year of injections I suddenly developed extreme needle phobia and couldn’t handle injections anymore.
Happy to be back on testosterone. Hoping like hell that these patches work for me, because my insurance won’t cover pellets and I don’t know what other options I have left if these don’t work.
