Discomfort While Packing (Itching, Rash, etc.)
Post Body

Has anyone else experienced a lot of discomfort from packing? I get itchy, swollen, and usually develop a rash. I will literally have a packer in for less than 10 minutes and I begin to feel itchy. It has gotten to the point where I can't pack anymore and that makes me really uncomfortable. I went to the doctor several times when this first started happening (about two years ago), but they couldn't do anything. I thought I might be allergic to the packer, so I bought different ones and that didn't help. I also tried putting them in plastic bags so they didn't touch my skin, but that didn't work either.

Any suggestions?

edit: I wear my packers in a pouch, so they are not touching skin. I do not think they are 100% silicone, so I will try that suggestion. I have tried several different creams and the only thing that has helped was not packing. I think it has something to do with irritation when I sweat and having something pressed against or near my body. I'm not sure.

Oh yeah. I had put it in a plastic bag and then into a sack harness, thinking maybe whatever I was allergic to was also seeping through the fabric of the harness.

Thanks for the tip! Is it uncomfortable wearing two pairs of underwear, though?

Hahaha. That's nice that they were light-hearted. Had my doctor chuckled or something I would have as well, but he has a completely serious face. I'm glad you've had docs with a sense of humor!

Haha. Right? Well it's clear now because I haven't been packing for months. But oh my god it was horrible and so was the doctor. I had to see someone who was not my regular doctor because he wasn't available so I got stuck with some idiot. They need to do more training for docs. Even some extra common courtesy stuff, geez!

I also tried several creams from the doctor for months and months and they usually made it worse. I have pouches for the packers, also.

I have some from Tranzwear, but they only barely help. :-/

Yeah thinking about it I bet it's not too bad. I do have some Spandex-y shorts from Tranzwear.

I could tell this particular doctor hadn't read my chart before coming in, so I said "Just so you know I'm trans so you will not be seeing male anatomy." And he was like, "What will I be seeing?" And I said, "Well, female..." To which he responded: "Thanks for the warning." I saw him one other time for things not related to the genitals and he was a jerk then, too.

The handful of horrible experiences I had with uneducated doctors led me to find out that they knew nothing and I didn't have an infection. It may be my packer or the pouch that I use, even. That's a good thought. Maybe I will try 100% silicone packer and a new harness.

I had been packing for about 2 years with no problems and then one day it changed. I hadn't changed packers or harnesses or anything.

I thought it was detergent also, but I got a hypoallergenic type and it didn't change. I really don't know what it is because I don't have this reaction unless I'm packing.
