Silver linings of being trans: community and making friends
Post Body

Hello y’all, I’m an “elder” transman (32) and I’ve struggled to make friends all my life. Mainly because guys thought I wanted to hook up with them (I did, but not as a girl 😏 Lol) and girls thought I was weird based on my non stereotypical behavior.

Now I’ve been on T for about five months, and I feel like it’s much easier to make friends, especially inside the trans community. Whether you’re FTM or MTF or something in between, or simply just queer, YOU GET IT. We get each other. You’ve been through the same internal (and external) struggles as I have, so there’s an instant connection. At least that’s my experience.

I have lost many connections with my former friends, but I’m honestly not bothered. I know the change is huge. They’ve known me as this strange girl, and now shit is different. I am grieving those friendships for sure, however, this is a new chapter in my life, and I am excited to meet folks like myself who are different.

Anyone feel similar? Also always looking for new people to voice call with cause I’m beyond excited about my new voice 😀

Cheers
