Finasteride depression side effects (my own experience with finasteride)

Post Body

Hi everyone! 24 trans masc or gender queer individual here. I started taking finasteride after it was recommended to me by my doctor. Both sides of my family have issues with bad hair loss and I really don't want to lose mine. Anyways, I took it for about a week and started to notice that I was becoming very depressed. I felt dissociated and suicidal. I stopped taking the finasteride the day I noticed and the symptoms completely went away. I just thought I'd share because it seems this has happened to many people but this is a side effect that isn't discussed much. If you are already suffering from depression or other mental illnesses (or have), I personally would not risk taking this drug. It was pretty bad. At least something to consider!
