So I (FTM, 22) have been at my job for a little over 2 years. In these two years I have never made a big deal about what people call me. My name is not legally changed and I pass on and off. I do tell people that I prefer Aaron and he/him as soon as I meet them. The ones that respect me do call me the correct name and pronoun. Often enough, the managers at my store are not any of those people, despite me being here as long as I have been and explaing it to them multiple times.
My general manager who runs the store has never made any effort to be inclusive or tell lower level management to respect my name or pronoun. So, again, I answer to whatever.
But I just found out that while I am quite often perceived as a cis male, it is my general manager who tells people to call me by my dead name and tells them I am a girl, will never be a real man, and am delusional.
I found this out after I asked my coworker how she even knew I was trans. I'd been stealth at college for 3 years and it's always made me scratch my head how so many people at my job knew. She explained that the general manager outed me in a rant to her. And keeps telling people that call me Aaron that I'm not a man. The incident with her happened a year ago though. And he continues to misgender and deadname me to this day.
Anywhoo. I don't really care if they call me a chick or whatever. I've experienced way worse than being called the wrong name and gender. Death threats, spam calling by spoofed numbers, slurs, attacks with weapons, a literal gun in my face. I've got thicker skin these days. I want to come in, do my 8 hours, then leave.
But to find out the general manager is ACTIVELY telling people to deadname and misgender me.... LIKE WTFF!??! What do you have against me bro? π€¦πΎπ€¦πΎπ€¦πΎ
There are literally people here who go by nicknames not even similar to their birth names. π Yet a preferred name is an issue for him/other managers.
Now I'm just annoyed.
