Like many people here, I’ve been in denial and then trying to figure out if this (being transgender) is…well, real. I think slowly but surely I’m figuring out signs that I’m doing the right thing:

1. For sixteen years I felt like I had two personalities to uphold, now that it’s only my male one, I feel a great sense of relief. Life feels easier. Doable.
2. Seeing myself in the mirror (when clothed) makes me smile because I have an idea of what I could look like on T (especially my face) which makes me excited
3. I like shopping for clothes now. I never had any idea what to wear as a woman, but I know exactly what to wear as a man
4. Seeing the name I’ve picked for myself brings me joy
5. I never cared about much about my looks. Now though, I’m wearing contacts lenses, I’m getting my hair dyed the right color of blond tomorrow (It darkened with age but I am still holding on to my blond identity)
6. I started working out with a clear goal in mind. Broadening my upper frame. Driving through the rain (on my bicycle) to get to the gym on four hours sleep would never have been a thing a couple of months ago. Now I’m determined
7. Friends actually speak up about how different my vibe and energy is. I feel calm and hopeful for the future
8. I’ve been working on deepening my voice pre T (waiting on it atm), and I just feel like I can almost hear the voice I’ve had in my head for sixteen years. Hopefully T will do the rest
9. He/Him pronouns just…fit, they feel good
