Been on T for 8 months. My doctor is very laid back. Almost too laid back. Doesn’t give me confidence in what we’re doing. I recall the second appointment I had with her when she taught me to administer my shot. We finished and she was just like “alright we’ll I’ll see you next time.” I was like, “wait, when do I come back??” Her response, “meh, 6 months?!”

So of course I came back in 6 months my levels were checked again but not sure how accurate they were bc my shot day was maybe the day or two prior. That appointment she told me I can double my dose, so I did, and I still haven’t had any labs or returned since then. I’m the only ftm person I know, so idk if this is normal procedure or if I should be a lot more involved with my dr.

What is everyone else’s experience with doctors and doctor visits like? How frequently do you go? How often do you get labs to check hormone levels? How involved is your doctor in this whole process???

There’s another place in the city I live that is known for helping trans folks and I’m considering becoming a patient there instead .
