Androgel concerns

I recently started T (like 2 weeks ago) and I'm on Androgel. My roommates (also trans men) want me to switch to shots because they're worried about their cat getting hormone poisoning if I touch him or he comes near my bed and clothes. Is this something they should be worried about? I put on a shirt right after I put my gel on and now I use gloves to put it on. I just want to pet the cat ðŸ˜
