hey guys i’m a little confused on the excess credit hours rule. i’m at 101 right now (not including spring 2024), graduating in the spring or summer. i have three more course requirements to graduate that i’m taking in the spring, but 3 classes are left for med school. here is my predicament:
i either graduate in the spring, and have the 3 classes left to take at home (one in the summer, one in the fall, one next spring because they need to be spread out) or i graduate in the summer and take 2 very hard science classes over the summer at the same time and have bright futures pay for that and then only have one class to take at home in the fall.
i’m pre med and these classes aren’t required for my degree but for med school and i don’t want to mess up my gpa by taking certain classes together and doing poor. i’m not going to mention the classes bc that’s not the point of the post and i’m meeting w my advisor next week.
anyways, someone told me i can add a minor, that way i can stay at fsu and take the science classes while bright futures pays for it. but realistically i wouldn’t do anything or need another minor (i have two already), and i would be at the 120 credit hours at/during a third a minor.
if i added a minor, do dual enrollment and AP credits count towards excess credit hours? that’s calculated into my 101 hours. will bright futures continue to pay after exceeding 120 credit hours? are there any other university rules regarding this?
if this post is confusing i’m sorry lol
Dual enrollment and AP should not count toward excess hours. If it looks like that's factoring toward your counter, reach out to the Registrar for an audit of your account. [email protected]
I do not know about Bright Futures paying beyond 120.
