I don't understand why some/most people don't put a similar amount of effort into their PLATONIC relationships as they do their ROMANTIC ones.
Don't people understand that platonic relationships are relationships too?
I've read that some people go weeks/months not contacting those who they are in a platonic relationship with but that wouldn't be okay to do to their romantic partner.
How can people expect to go weeks/months not conversing with those they are in a platonic relationship with and think that it's okay to do that or think that those who they are in a platonic relationship with are going to stick around and wait for them?
Isn't that ghosting/being a zombie?
If they have something going on they should at the very least have enough respect for the person tot tell them instead of ignoring their messages or not contacting them to let them know what's going in.
I've seen people say "You're not owned their time" which I understand when it comes to people who you don't have a platonic relationship with but as you've chosen to have these people in your life isn't it rude not to reply in a timely manner?
I have a friendship group with 3 friends and I'm almost always the one messaging them first and making plans both in and out of the group, I'm almost never the one asked out or reached out to. I'm always the one waiting for them to reply to me, I feel like if I don't message them I won't hear from them.
I would never stop contacting them for a week or a month without telling them or letting them know that I won't be in contact with them for x amount of time, I think it's rude to just disappear without warning.
I understand that people are busy but once again, this wouldn't be okay to do to a romantic partner.
It's not hard to message someone you are in a platonic relationship with and ask them how they are and to ask them when they are free to hang out.
I don't understand why I have to be in a romantic relationship to have a relationship where both people are making an equal effort to make plans and contact each other.
Another thing I don't understand is why some/most/a lot of people aren't openly emotionally affectionate to their romantic partners but not those who they are in a platonic relationship with.
What I mean is telling you're in a platonic relationship with that you love them when you do that you care about them or that they're important to you. Aka, Words of Affirmation (WoA)
I am naturally emotionally affectionate to those I am in a platonic relationship with.
I've sadly only had platonic relationships with people who aren't as emotionally expressive as me.
Which has made me sad and "used" to not getting WoA.
I don't understand why I have to be in a romantic relationship to get regular WoA.
Some people find it hard to do it to or don't often express those feelings to those they are in a platonic relationship with but when it comes to someone they are in a romantic relationship with it comes easy to them.
I've been told by two people that they "only say I love you to those they are in a familial or romantic relationship with" which I don't understand as platonic love is a (valid) type of love.
One of them got a girlfriend when they told me this.
I only get WoA from those I am in a platonic relationship with when I express them, it doesn't come randomly like when I do it which I don't understand.
Due to the fact that I rarely get WoA from those I am in a platonic relationship with I rarely give it to them.
They still make me happy but just not happy enough for me to tell them due to how unbalanced the relationships are which is most likely why I don't give the WoA.
It shouldn't be hard to tell someone whom you are in a platonic relationship with that you care about them or that they're a great person or that you love them.
I feel like platonic relationships/love is not important in society. Society seems to only care about familial/romantic love.
