Needing recommendation for legal advice, former tenant dealing with former landlord.
Post Body

Admittedly I'm a bit lost how to proceed, this is all new territory for me. I'm in definite need of some sort of legal counsel or representation.

The short of it is a dispute over move out and damages between myself, co-signer (an incredibly toxic relationship) and the landlord (a property management company) after I had to move out in a hurry due to extreme volatility and the real possibility of violence after several confrontations with my ex/co-signer.

What I have tried so far.

  • Get a recommendation from Fresno County Bar Association: nothing. "We currently do not have any lawyers practicing in that area of law."
  • Get a recommendation from NOLO. This referred me to a lawyer who does not practice rental law, who referred me to a lawyer in Merced, who referred me to an advocacy group in Modesto, who referred me to the local Fresno BBB tenant/landlord helpline, which is not responding to calls or returning my voicemails.
  • Asked family and friends. Big nothing.

Any useful help is appreciated. Again, I'm way out of my element here but I'm staring down some dire consequences and I'm probably screwed without some form of counsel.

Thanks.
