I’m 31F and have been sober for about 3.5 years now. I never considered myself an alcoholic, and it was relatively easy to just one day decide to stop drinking. (Mainly for physical and mental health reason, among others.) I also abstain from all other substances/drugs. But with the pandemic burnout getting to me, living alone, being very single, drifting away from the majority of my old “party friends,” etc, that tempting “I could really go for an IPA” feeling is creeping back.
So my question is, does anyone have any experience with Alcoholics Anonymous in Fresno? Is each group in town about the same, or are some more active and popular than others? Are any super Christian? (I’d rather avoid that tbh, and stick to just a neutral Higher Power.) Also do I have to be an alcoholic to attend? I really just want to find some sober friends to go do fun sober things with and feel a sense of community. As many know, a lot of social events/venues in Fresno revolve around booze.
Thanks in advance! Also feel free to PM me if you’d rather not reply on this public post.
