Having an install issue truenas 12-release

Hi noob here,

I built a new pc and wanted to use my old pc as a NAS just to get a feel for plex media server/storage/hdhomerun dvr/etc

specs

Asrock extreme3 mobo

fx8450 cpu

16gb 1600mhz ram

gtx980 ti video card

seagate 2tb 7200rpm (green label)

so issue I've been having is it is not installing to the thumb thumb drive or hdd.

went the the truenas web page dl the iso, I have used etcher and rufus to put on usb

set bios to read usb

it gets to the screen to hit enter the nothing

any thoughts or things i should try
