Good hardware for a basic NAS
Post Body

Hi everybody. I am looking for hardware suggestions for a basic NAS machine. I am looking to build a Ryzen based system, does FreeNAS do well on Ryzen? I don't need much performance, as the machine will mainly be used for a few network shares. Currently I am running FreeNAS on a Dell OptiPlex 755 with a Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16GHz), 8GB DDR2-800, a 160GB WD Caviar SE as a boot drive and 2 1TB WD Blue drives for storage. The performance is fine, but the machine has started to experience hardware failures, and it is time for it to be retired as my main NAS. I don't need drive recommendations right now, but I will end up with 4 SATA drives for storage. I'm thinking of going with a Ryzen 3 on a B450 board, would that work well? Thanks for any suggestions.
