one of my leaders at work is a MM. He acts like a drill seargent to a Group of volunteers. how should I approach him?
Post Body

I work at a huge construction site (3k workers) and I volunteered to be apart of the site rescue team because i enjoy helping people. I am paid no extra for this but do recieve some extra free training in this area. Now the man who is in charge of this team is a MM. I have sat in his lodge and he seems like a pretty good guy over all. However, when any kind of small inconvenience happens he goes all drill sargent on us. I hit a deer on the way to work one day and clocked in 6 minutes late after having to rip off my bumper to drive. When he found out he then made me hike a 70ish pound 1000' rope bag up to the 12 floor of the building and back down 4 times just for "training". He does dumb things like this with most of the members and alot of us are talking about quitting the team. Keep in mind, this is a volunteer team and all the training and stuff is done on top of our 10-12 hour shifts 6-7 days a week doing our regular construction job.

This morning, another member forgot his radio and had to go out to his car to get it. In his words "as punishment for not being 100% ready for an emergency call, we will pack rope bags. And since we're a team, all 7 members present will pack bags too". We spent 2 hours packing bags, dumping it out, and packing again. Not what we wanna be doing at 4am at the start of a 12 hour shift. How can I approach him and talk to him about how he does these things. This would definatly be frowned upon by site management but I don't want to take that route and get him in trouble. He is killing the morale of the team. Any advice?
