Hello,

Firstly, let me say that I am not a Freemason but have researched the topic and in no way believe any of the nonsense or conspiracy theories surrounding masonry.

However, I have a question that is related to these theories in a small way. Please forgive me if anyone finds this topic offensive, as I'm sure you get questions relating to such conspiracy theories all the time.

I'm a writer and am currently writing a piece on the Jack the Ripper murders in Whitechapel, London, back in 1888.

I'm sure many will be familiar with the absurd theories about Freemasonry, the British royal family and other such nonsense that sadly dominate this case in the media. The movie and graphic novel From Hell being a prime example.

After debunking these theories in my article, I intend to say that there has never been any proven link between masonic rituals and murder and instead analyse the topic through proper method rather than fantasy.

However, not being fully versed in the history of masonry, is it true to make that statement?

While not suggesting any organized conspiracy, have their ever been any rogue individuals who have used such imagery in their crimes? Or any individual who was perhaps prominent in masonry whose links were spread in the media? Or perhaps a lodge that was dominated by organized crime figures somewhere like Chicago? This kind of thing.

Thank you for any help you might be.
