Does anyone hate how competitive is harder to find now?
Post Body

I am mostly a modern player and there were two occasions where Modern didn't fire up. One time was when I won a pauper local once and I asked the owner if they had any other events for there store. They said they were supposed to have modern yesterday but nobody showed up. Another one was when I drove 30 minutes to a local and it also didn't fire up. To be fair an RCQ happened the day before but I didn't know that. Also the last time I did enter a modern local it was 4 people and the owner of the store had to be the 4th one with a simple burn deck. Keep in mind modern is the most popular format on paper competitivly.

Maybe this is because of commander being the main selling point of the game now but tbh I missed when commander was just nothing more than a mini escape from the game rather than being biggest paper format. Magic is a game I love because of the many different formats and it seems harder to find any local now with said format because commander feels like it killed the game. I like commander but only if I really vibe with the people I am with. Maybe this is a regional thing but is this happening in your area too? Competing in Magic has been something I wanted to do for awhile and despite the fact I enjoy improving and learning about the game, it just feels sad competition and organized play feels much worse than it used too. Thoughts?
