There have been a lot of video streaming sites that have been popping up everywhere as of late: Bitchute, Vid.me, D.Tube.
All of these video streaming sites are interesting in their own way.
Bitchute is a torrent-powered alternative to YouTube.
Vid.me was the popular alternative to YouTube.
D.Tube is built atop of a decentralized crypcurrency platform.
Like I said, each of these video streaming sites are interesting in their own way.
In fact, they perform the exact same function as YouTube does: load video and stream it so you can watch it online.
With all of these video streaming platforms already built and made in a way that is very different from YouTube â some of which that offers better monetization policies than YouTube, you would think that YouTube would be gone.
However, (in May 2018 â the time of this writing), YouTube is still the most popular video streaming site that exists currently. It is literally the number one video search engine in the world on the Internet.
With better versions of YouTube out there, how come YouTube is still here, alive and kicking?
A Better Burger than McDonaldâs
Letâs ask another question, âCan you make a better burger than the one in McDonaldâs?â Lord help you if you canât.
However, odds are that you can make a better hamburger. So, how come you and I are not stinking rich yet?
Because McDonaldâs is more than just its hamburgers! (No, Iâm not just talking about the salads and shakes!)
Iâm talking about the systems that operate within McDonaldâs. Say what you want about McDonaldâs (seriously, I wouldnât be caught dead eating thereâŚor if I am caught dead, you easily blame McDonaldâs.)
But in all seriousness, the business has systems that it runs: where the locations are, the marketing, the relationship with meat suppliers, the partnerships with brands, and most importantly, its systematization.
Every employee who is working the floor on McDonaldâs is made to be as replaceable as food.
Learn the system and get out. The goal is to get the food to you as fast as possible.
The hamburgers doesnât make McDonaldâs, itâs the systems behind it that drive McDonaldâs.
To be honest, I have to give credit to where itâs due: Robert Kiyosakiâs Rich Dad Poor Dad.
However, even working with clients directly as online marketer, I seen firsthand how systematizing processes is what makes a business a business. Businesses are more than just its product.
With that in mind, the same can be said about building a better video streaming site or any other product.
A Better YouTube than YouTube!
It happens like clockwork. YouTube does something stupid and content creators bemoan that there should be a video streaming alternative.
There are other, even better, video streaming sites besides YouTube but like what I said beforehand, that still isnât enough.
If McDonaldâs is more than just its hamburgers, then building your online business is more than just the products you sell, the SaaS monthly memberships you have, your media platform that you can use to create content for your audience.
Itâs about your audience development. In every single business, in every single market, having a dedicated audience is the key to ensuring that you have customers coming and keeping your business.
Some people may mistaken this as your brand. The truth is, no one really cares about your brand. Itâs not about you; itâs about them.
Itâs about how closely engaged your business is with your audience. Itâs about how many people are talking about your business.
Itâs about the open rate in your business and how you are catering to your customers.
To this day, YouTube (even if their enlisted content creators have choice words to say about this) is still able to have a much larger audience than any other streaming site that exists currently.
Yes, you can build a better YouTube than YouTube but can you generate an audience large enough for your video streaming site?
Itâs Just NOT About How Awesome Your Product Is, Itâs About Your Audience
It doesnât have to be a video streaming site.
It can be SaaS or a blockchain project that you starting.
You donât have to be technical at all.
It can be FBA e-commerce store or even a Shopify store: the same principle applies.
Who is your audience supporting your business?
Who can you contact closest to you in order to sell to the customers.
Who is in your social media subscription list, who is in your e-mail list and what is the open rate of your e-mails to them?
This is what matters the most more than anything.
The larger and the more dedicated your audience is, the more conversions you can draw into your business and generating sales for your business.
Itâs not just about how great your product is, itâs about how large and how dedicated your audience is to your business.
