I went to Target today (I've heard they can be stiff about coupons) to use some free item coupons that expire on 12/31. I had 6 coupons, each for a free box of Monkey Bars granola bars, all obtained validly (the company was offering 3 free boxes in the form of coupons. I signed up and they sent me two sets for some reason). They only restrictive wording on the coupons was "one coupon per purchase." I know enough about coupons to know that this is different than "one per transaction", but the associates refused to let me use any more than one coupon. (The original associate called another to double check). When I asked if I could just do individual transactions for the items, they refused that too, even though the coupon doesn't say "one per person" or "one per day." I ended up walking out with one box of bars.
What do you do in this situation? Anything besides just accept that they won't take the coupons and move on? I thought about bringing up the above website or a similar one, but I know they would've just balked at it. It just sucks that retailers (especially large ones like target) wouldn't understand the differences in coupon wording.
