New Framework 13 is it hanging on cros_ec_lpcs

[solved: new iso, and pressing F12 instead of following the default splash page seemed to help]

Hi. I am using an Ubuntu 22.10 Kinetic Kudu DVD from a Linux mag to get an iso for my new 13” AMD Framework.

I got to “boot from file” in the Framework set up menus.

I hear lots of spinning disk activity. I get to the Grub DVD root page and select Try or Install Ubuntu.

But I am also seeing only one ominous message on the log:

cros_ec_lpcs cros_ec_lpcs.0 EC ID not detected

I looked that up and it’s something to do with parts of the thing being based on Chromebook tech apparently.

I am leaving it alone to see what happens. It stayed like that for ages. Long enough to have a cup of tea.

I have tried again with a different expansion port.

I have checked that the 5.19 kernel seems to have updates to help cros_ec_lpcs whatever it is.

Now it’s just hanging again. Pretty disappointing for a really expensive computer that took months to come and is supposed to be Linux compatible.

Maybe I should flash a USB stick with a new iso.

Hmmm. Just thinking out loud here until someone replies. Tried it in safe graphics mode and something is working. Got the wee Ubuntu sign up and it’s not hanging.
