Good mornin’ (barely) fragrance friends! What's everyone wearing this lazy Sunday?
Today I'm planning on working my way through a couple of things from the house of Parfums de Nicolai, starting with Odalisque: A gorgeous seductively bright floral. It opens with sparkling galbanum and a touch of bergamot, and then swirls of silky rose, jasmine, tuberose. One of few tuberose-centric fragrances I can really enjoy - here, it brings fluffiness and creaminess without cloying sweetness. The jasmine and rose are both supporting players but distinct - I love the way that they fit seamlessly but are easy to pick out and distinguished. A touch of powder that could come from aldehydes, but for the fact that they didn’t make themselves apparent at the opening, so perhaps they come from the orris.
Has a bit of a vintage Chanel vibe. It reminds me a bit of Coco without the civet - I might need to wear those side by side. Or maybe it reminds me a bit of Paris-Riviera of the L’Eaux line, but with what I can already tell is a heck of a lot more lasting power.
