After nagging u/Biggity_Biggity_Bong to retry out all his “newer” Amouages for me, I completely forgot that my newest batch of samples included a tiny dabber of Lyric Man too!
The rose is definitely prominent from the-get go on this one. To my nose it’s a dark rose, but...unadorned with any the usual dark companions, which is interesting. I typically see brighter roses with brighter supporting notes, and darker roses with a dark base. But this is an almost solemn rose, supported by brash galbanum and lively bergamot. I’m not getting any cumin, but definitely ginger and an elusive ribbon of saffron. And..is that pine? Brisk.
I could see this replacing lighter florals for me in the summer days, for sure. This is a dark floral that won’t become oppressive in the heat and humidity - unusual, and very deserving of pride-of-place for that alone. But...I think I’d almost always reach for Dia over this, so I don’t think I’ll be needing a full bottle. But I could see a decant working its way into my repertoire.
