Hello lovely redditors! I'm in the middle of my first "glow-up" journey, and it's going amazingly well. Finding a new fragrance that I love is on my wishlist. I've only ever worn Sensuous by Estee Lauder. It's been discontinued, and I'm leary of buying from third parties like Ebay. The few bottles I've purchased seem watered down, or the notes just dont match the original. I don't like Sensuous Nude. Also, I'd like to find something novel to help mark this new chapter.
I am a travel nurse and always travel to very small rural communities (large cities scare me, lol). I don't get the opportunity to sample fragrances very often at all. I had to travel to a larger area for an appointment and decided to hit up Sephora and Ulta. I tried SO many fragrances and became so overwhelmed. I left Ulta without purchasing anything and went to Sephora. I again tried many fragrances and felt so indecisive. Eventually, an employee came to offer to help, and I was vaguely interested in Her by Burberry. I mentioned this and asked if they had any trial sized bottles/sticks I could buy. He said they didn't and pulled out a one oz bottle and said he could take care of me at the register. I'm so new to all things beauty and felt so on the spot, so I purchased (totally my fault, I should have made it clear I wasn't ready to commit to a whole bottle).
Anyway, I don't like it! It's definitely not the worst, but it isn't quite what I'm going for, and I still want to find the scent that's to die for - not just something I find tolerable. I won't wear it, but I don't want it to let it languish in my cabinet either.
What are my options? I've worn it once. Is there a way to donate gently used fragrances? Also, how on earth can I sample fragrances when I don't have access to the brick and mortar stores that sell them?!
Sorry this is so long for such a simple question! Lol I guess I'm hoping I can find a method going forward that allows me to sample without the pressure of being in a store. Is there some sort of service that provides this? Thank you all so much!
