Followup to my post yesterday.
New issue: Can't get SmartAudio to work.
Parts:
- CAM/VTX: BetaFPV M01 AIO Camera 5.8G VTX V2.1(Pin-Connected) - I'm only using the VTX, as the Caddx Ant Nano still works fine
- FC: BetaFPV F405 V3 AIO
- on slightly modified old HappyModel Cine8 with XM SBUS mini RX. (Original VTX stopped working, hence this repair issue with mismatched parts I had laying around).
Does anyone have any experience with this VTX? I know it's intended for 1S whoops, and I'm using a larger FC (on 3S), but I feel like I'm doing everything correctly and that shouldn't make a difference (5volts is 5volts). Am I missing something? I set everything up exactly how I had my previous VTX before it broke.
Got everything wired up and crammed into the frame. Video signal is fine, but cannot control anything with OSD or through BetaFlight.
Yes, LiPo is plugged in. VTX tab in Betaflight says VTX Type: SmartAudio undefined and Device ready: No
I made sure I had the proper UART (6) set up for VTX (TBS SmartAudio). I also tried swapping the VTX's SA wire to TX1 on the FC in case T6 was bad for some reason - no change.
I used the VTX table from BetaFPV's website, and also tried an alternate version from a youtube video I found (same table, except a couple freqs set to zero (BandE : Ch4, 7, 8) for some reason - maybe a regional thing? I'm in the US, fwiw. One thing I thought was strange: the product page says
Frequency: 5.8GHz 6 bands 37 channels, with Raceband: 5362~5945MHz
Which I assume breaks out into 6 bands with 6 ch each (for 36) plus Pit? yet their table sets up 5 bands x 8 channels (for 40, not counting Pit). What gives?
I'm not even sure which version of SA this has. The kit I bought says "V2.1" in the product title, but I dunno if that refers to the SA version or their own revision. Following this post to check SA version with blackbox gave me no results (just 0's). The VTX Table.txt from the manufacturer says "2.0" in the header, and then has some non-ascii characters, so I'm not sure if that is throwing something off or what's going on with that. When I paste it into the CLI all those characters just turn into "h".
Am I doing something wrong? Do I just have a bad VTX? Any other suggestions to try?
