Hi everyone. I'm in a journalism course at UC Davis, and one of our assignments is to write a feature article on something we're interested in, such as a hobby. I've been using fountain pens for a couple of years and as such wanted to write on the hobby of fountain pens.
This post contains a link to a Google Form survey with questions on how you were introduced to fountain pens, your reasons for using them, and other opinions/experiences about the hobby. Every question is designed as a text response. I'm unsure of the character limit, but if there's anything you cannot fit in the survey or just want to relay more info to me, please feel free to message me directly.
For privacy concerns, I am asking for your Reddit username so I can attribute your responses, but there is little identifying information in the questions besides asking about your occupation/student status. Only my professor and my classmates will read the assignment.
Thank you all for reading and participating. I'm grateful to be part of this community, and I hope you all have a great day.
Thank you for responding. I can't seem to see any emails from the respondents, but it's possible you might be able to see my Gmail account, which is fine by me. It looks like all I can see is the Reddit usernames from the first question, and no other personally identifying information.

Thanks for participating and for the heads up on the Google doc privacy aspect. The prompt for this assignment is pretty open-ended, so I decided to put in some general questions about the hobby to provide examples of public opinion, while some of the more specific issues like Noodler's and the environment can be used as examples of conflict or controversy in the hobby.
I also admit that this forum is my biggest connection to the fountain pen community as I don't really know others IRL who collect pens like I do. Therefore, I'm just hoping to get a range of opinions on how people got into this hobby, their experiences with it, and the potential for conflict or tension within it, so it could be interesting to an uninformed reader.
