A few years ago I bought a Lamy Studio, which I quite liked. First pen I spent more than $15 on, and the first one that 'just worked.' Well, about that. It suffered the infamous 'snap won't snap' fail and I got annoyed at it and Lamy in general.
But then you, /r/fountainpens, you saved it with a comment made about fixing that issue and a certain Brian 'Hardest Working Guy in Fountain Pens' Goulet video. And 5 minutes later I had... a working Studio.
Later that day... you know what is coming... I walked over to my local art store. They are brick and mortar only and stock only Lamy products in the 'above $30' category. And despite the allure of a ton of limited edition Safari's just sitting there unloved, I bought a slim pen called an ST. Very different form factor than any other pen I have, great to tuck into a pen loop on a small notebook. EF nib. Writes very nicely with Lamy black ink.
Not sure if I will go on a Safari or not. Certainly some of those vibrant colours appeal for an everyday carry pen. But for now, my faith is humanity is restored, I have a new pen (!) and I'm a happy guy.
