So I just got a ball point pen and well....
Post Body

It's awful

Ok some history. I have Cerebral Palsy (Only fine motor issues, thankfully) and writing in general is difficult for me. Until recently, I hadn't written anything in probably 20 years. I decided to get a fountain pen (Jinhao 95) and try to overcome part of my disability. I have actually been very pleased with my progress. I'm making clean, legible letters for the first time in my life. I need to work on speed and kerning, but I figured that will come with practice. I am 20 years rusty, and I was a bad writer to start with, back when I did write all the time.

So I decided to get a travel pen to take with me while I'm doing photography. I shoot a lot of manual lenses, and I thought taking some field notes would help me remember the settings I used and the conditions I would like to return to the area for. There is a high likelihood of losing this pen, and I needed something that dries fast. So I got a ball point (Zebra F-301 compact).

How do people right with these on the regular? My handwriting is horrible with this pen. It's jittery and inconstant. I'm having to use a shockingly large amount of pressure to get ink on paper, and I have to change my grip to hold the pen more upright. I have a strong suspicion had I been taught to write with a fountain pen during school, I would have had a much easier time with things. I am now of the opinion that children with writing disabilities should be given a laptop, and a fountain pen.

I'm still going to be taking this ballpoint with me when doing photography, It's just better suited to the job, but I'm going to hate it the whole time.
