My wife bought me this beautiful Parker 51 Signet as an anniversary gift, thought I’d share some pictures of this stunning pen!
Its cap and body is layered in rolled gold and has these timeless thin lines/grooves running throughout. Pen has some very nice weight to it too!
I’m unsure when exactly this pen was in production (there’s no date marking on the cap or body but it does say ‘Made in England’) but my guess would be between the late 1940’s and mid 1950’s based on some Googling. I’ve learnt that post 1950’s the Signet was renamed to ‘Parker Insignia’ due to copyright issues in the name
Anyway about the pen. What a lovely writer!! So smooth and wet, the nib does not need any work at all and I can’t believe how well it writes for something so old and pre-used. The nib appears to be a fine but does creep towards the medium spectrum but I like it, the like thickness is great for me.
They really don’t make items like they used to anymore…the build quality and durability of this pen puts majority of my modern pens to complete shame!
(Ignore my hideous handwriting in the back, I’m cramming in revision for an exam and quick writing = horrible note taking lol!)
