I watched A Record of Sweet Murder.... And it was the most messed up, crazy yet brilliant movie I have seen recently
Post Body

After trying different sources for quite some time, I finally found this on Tubi after using a VPN setting my location to US. I started watching this around 7 at night but due to several interruptions, I could only watch 20 minutes of its 1 hour 35 minute run time then. After having dinner, I started watching it around 2 am and finished it at around 3:43 am and the only reaction I had afterwards was, holy hell what did I just watch?

The film follows a basic plotline where a serial murderer asks his journalist friend to interview him and bring a Japanese cameraman with him. From the start, it felt that Koji was taking influence from his own previous works, mostly Occult as some of the motives and actions resembled it closely. And this movie is also filled with smart horror that Koji is known for. But as the movie hits the hour mark, all hell breaks loose and gore erupts which would make the legendary Takashi Miike proud. And the ending was perfect, a way to correct the ending of Occult which people make fun of. Koji improved on Occult which is already an amazing movie and gave us this gem which although closely resembles Occult in many sequences still holds its own as an amazing movie. If you can't stand gore Or mutilation, still I would suggest you skip the gory parts and watch this movie and appreciate the brilliance of Koji, who also acts in this movie too.
