Returning player, how does breeding aesthetics (if they) work?

So in my last vault (maybe about 12 months ago) i tried to breed my way to a vault of only white people with red hair (ginger vault experiment, can ginger's survive the post apocalyptic world? Haha). But i would get what seemed to be random results. I've noticed now with the barbershop you can now have a ghoul "skin".
So if i have two ghouls breed, will i have chance to have a ghoul child? How does this work?
