DISCLAIMER: I haven't touched multiplayer since Forza since 3. I am basing this post only from what I have recently read about how borked the penalty system is.
I really can't think of a way to implement a fair, accurate and reasonable system. We could go back to the ELO system like OG days but that lacked any nuance. You either had a big number because you either wrecked everyone so you could podium or you played only in lobbys with your most trusted of sweaty friends. So yeah, maybe the old system isn't as awesome as I like to remember it.
It feels like there is a lack of means to accomplish what is ultimately needed. A system that can interpret impacts and react accordingly. AI sounds like a possibility but that wouldn't happen until the next numbered entry, if at all.
I asked a few friends who are way above my paygrade in the more advanced areas of coding and development and they all pretty much said it's not really possible to have the system we want without some kind of AI. They all had their own methods for such a system but blah.
How would a game know, obviously throw the coding, if that PIT was done like a LEO who just finished training and got his PIT cert vs an actual accident due to lack of skill? We know, typically, when it happens. But it's hard to translate that without analyzing the visuals of that moment. The raw data would come up short.
I really hope this makes sense. I have the most detailed and awesome thoughts that turn into what you just read when I attempt to state them. But if you got the gist of it, any thoughts? Am I way off base here? Nail on the head? Back to therapy?
Thanks all!
