Years after release and Multi-USB still not working?

I know there used to be an issue in which if you didn't connect your pedals directly to your wheel base (therefore only having 1 usb), the game wouldn't recognize them. The work around at the time was to launch the demo, create a profile, and manually copy the file over, but the demo doesnt seem to exist anymore (at least on steam). Is there seriously no fix to this, especially this long after release? Feels like it should be fixed by now. Please help, I really want to play the game but I'm close to returning.
