Confused with championships

I may just be missing something on screen. I am having trouble knowing what race to do next in a championship. They all just say new on the icon even if i've already done the race. It doesn't tell me if its part of my current running championship either its really annoying. Pretty sure horizon 3 had check marks if you did the race in exhibition, championship ect.
