So I played for a couple weeks after season 2 got released, got shinobi to rank 3 or so and had some decent amount of steel and crates saved up. I happened to have some free time to tune into the s4 reveal and the new stuff got me hyped.

After some issues getting into my account(I though I just forgot my password) and downloading like 20 gigs worth of data to be playable... I find I have 500 steel, no lootboxes, a emblem with a boarder I never had before and I DEFINITELY didn't make, I guess the new mask outfit for orochi who I never really played before, and random shit on characters from s3 that I literally never played.

I got ahold of Ubisoft and they said they would look into it and get back to me, but I wasn't sure if anyone has had experience and may know if I could expect to get any of my shit back. Because I surmise this person spent something like 50k steel. A lot of mine and some I guess they grinded their own. Thank god I hadn't attached a credit card.
