Hey all, So I've been working on a Class/Loadout Select system for a few days now. I've got it about 99% working but there is one last tricky detail I'm having trouble figuring out: communicating to the player what to do.

My current solution is that, to select a class, you have to go to a terminal and interact with it (which will kill you and respawn you with your selected loadout). I went with the respawn method because if you force equipment after forcing weapon overwrites, it's bugged. Same with if you force weapon overwrites twice in one life.

Each interactive terminal currently has an AI Nav Marker on it, denoted with the class it grants you.

Here's the tricky part, though: after you choose a class, I want that nav marker to disappear.

In FFA, that seems like a non-starter. I had a script that was setting the player allegiance to a "team" for whom the markers would not show up, but that didn't get rid of the markers AND put players on the same team. My best idea is to just nuke the nav markers for everyone at some point - maybe after everyone has selected a class? Idk.

In teams, it's again tricky because I want players who have selected their class to not see the markers, but those who have yet to select have the information available to them. So far my best idea is pretty inelegant: upon selecting a terminal, the player is moved teams. And the second best idea is to again nuke the markers when the full team has made selections. Perhaps with kill zones or something I can force people to make selections in a short time, but I also want to have the option of allowing people to change their class - so ideally, players would be able to turn the nav markers back on to see what they're selecting.

Obviously some of this stuff is a bit of a pipe dream. I have also considered making "signs" for each class but I haven't come up with cool designs for the classes, don't even really know how I'd go about making them (I'm on xbox and forge seems very finicky atm)... and my third idea is to just use a lettering system for each, but that gets pretty ugly when writing out whole classes like "assassin".

Wondering if anyone had any thoughts on alternatives/possible ways to achieve my goals here.
