Hi,
I am a land manager for a 400 acre woodland preserve and I am working on a grant that requires some FVS runs for a 3.5 acre woody invasive removal. The runs need to show what would happen with no interference and what would happen with our removal.
I've collected my inventory surveys and have been able to test things out with a simple run with the NE variant.
However, the FVS doesn't seem to have modeling for invasive species interactions. I am removing 3.5 acres of Privet, Wisteria and Bittersweet. I figured for the Privet I can set the regeneration to 0, as the stand is so overgrown nothing is coming up other than privet. How would I figure out an adjusted mortality rate for the girdling effect of the Wisteria and Bittersweet?
I've tried watching the forest service videos but have found them kind of esoteric, any advice would be greatly appreciated
*Edit* After speaking with the FVS service desk, the model that the grantor is requesting does not exist and is well beyond the scope of the FVS software. I will have to make slight adjustments to mortality rates and include written explanations with the grant application.
