Iām a member of the California Conservation Corps and for work theyāre making me find a āmentorā in a career field Iām interested in. I told my superior that Iām interested in forestry.
So I was wondering if I could talk or hang out with a forester or someone who works in forestry in the LA or Orange County area and see what a day in the life is like. I technically live in Whittier, which is in between LA and the OC.
Iām apologize if I am not very experienced or knowledgeable about the field and if asking this isnāt very professional. This āassignmentā was assigned and given at the last minute.
For background, Through the CCC, I have trail construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation experience. This includes using various hand axes, chainsaws, and building burn piles under the supervision of State Park forestry aides. Also through the CCC, I have done a groundskeeping internship and have been sent out on fruit fly emergencies where I worked with the California Department of Food and Agriculture and USDA to dispose of fruit. I am also trained in flood fighting and OSHA 10.
I also briefly worked as a land surveying technician for a construction company and as an energy data monitoring analyst before I joined the CCC. I also have a degree in the social sciences.
I guess either reply here or DM me?
Thank you and I apologize for any awkwardness.
