Greetings Restorers,
I was able to get in on Foreskinned bundle offer that went on sale last month which came with the new Gen 2 Air. I also have an original Air from day one of it's release however many years ago.
BLUF: Gen 2 Foreskinned Air more than doubles the time I can spend restoring continuously vs. Gen 1 thanks to design changes that have made it more comfortable, better gripping and better sealing.
The product was already just that good that I knew it would be worth it to get the bundle which included some other restoration options I wasn't yet using, but I will focus on what I think about the new Air. Inflation in general is only about half of my routine, I switch up my primary device every few days between the FS Air and a Mantor DS.
Regarding the Gen 1. I began using (dabbling) the FS Air at about CI2. I used it with the inner silicone gripper off initially, which did reduce maximum pressure and seal, but it really helped to get used to the device. After time, I was able to use it properly.
I was generally able to comfortably wear Gen 1 for 2 to 3 hours before I needed to take a break. The main issue was discomfort on my dorsal surface, pushing towards the territory of pain. Coincidentally, I experienced the same discomfort with DTR (which I replaced with Mantor DS), and I do not know if it is diameter issues, rigidity issues or what, but same exact feeling in the same place really limited how long I could continuously restore.
By this 2-hour point, the Gen 1 Air would also have begun to slip and had slowly lost some pressure. I cannot comment on any design flaws, it is just how it performed.
I am still quite grateful for the Gen 1 Air. I think having a second method to rotate with works well for me and may be an ideal approach for others. However, only being able to get a couple hours did make Gen 1 a little more cumbersome.
Now, Gen 2 FS Air is definitely different. On the surface, not much has changed at just a glance, but functionally, obviously many tweaks have put into the new design. The device maker has detailed the actual changes on their site, but what is important is that their hard work has definitely improved the device.
On days that I am using the Gen 2 Air as my main device, I am able to get a full eight hours in it, with the only rest being long enough to pee as needed.
The grip is highly improved. Between shape tweaks and maybe material difference (not sure) the grip is fantastic. This also means the seal is better, which means it stays inflated almost perfectly until I break the seal.
The discomfort after a few hours is gone with Gen 2. Just like with DTR to Mantor, no more dorsal surface discomfort. Again, I cannot speak to the design changes, but they have definitely paid off.
Ultimately, I am able to wear the new Gen 2 Foreskinned Air for about 8 hours continuously with just quick resets after using the restroom. I choose to stop wearing it after that point because, since it seals so well, condensation builds up inside the inflated area. Over time, the moisture held in sort of wrinkles up the shaft and glans skin (think fingers and hands after a while in the pool), and it just starts to be a little itchy-ish and loses some gripping power. I switch to my Mantor for the rest of the evening. On days when FS Air is not my primary device, I use it for the final 3-4 hours of the day as I am winding down for the night.
Final thoughts, I have had the luxury of getting to try many devices to see what works for me. No discredit to any other devices, I cannot fully explain why they do not work as well for me or cause discomfort. However, with it's redesign, the Gen 2 Foreskinned Air is now accounting for about 50% (up from about 25%) of my complete restoration routine, and I am definitely very happy with the changes. Gen 2 Foreskinned Air is a high quality product.
Good work Foreskinned, thanks for taking feedback and putting all the redesign effort into the new Air.
