In my story, a character is locked in a room with an unending staircase filled with fog. He encounters various dead bodies in there, and these are the bodies of people who couldn't escape the staircase. These people have not been able to eat or drink so they die due to dehydration. I haven't described it exactly, but the temperature in the room is around 60F.
One body has been in there eleven weeks. Is it possible he would turn into a skeleton by then? I originally had him as a skeleton, but it seems like the process of turning into one would take longer than three months. At what point would a corpse turn into a skeleton under these conditions? What is the most likely scenario for a corpse in this room?
Another body has been in there for six months, and the rest have been in there ranging from one year to ten. The eleven-week corpse and the six month corpse are the most important, so I am looking for details about them more than anything.
Thanks!
