Turn signal is WAY too fast after headlight replacement. What went wrong?

I replaced the headlights on my 03 Edge 4.0L, and afterwards I found the new turning signals to be a lot faster than when i started.

During the install, I found both of the plugs for the signal lights to have broken tabs on them. They were also pretty dirty. I blew them out and pushed them into the bulb housing as best as I could. Would this cause the blinker to flash faster?

Also, side note question……is there running lights on the rear of these trucks? I also replaced the tail lights, but noticed no light came on when the headlights were on.
