How much can a 2017 Ford Escape 2.0 Ecoboost Turbo Tow WITHOUT Factory Tow Package?

I am looking to make a move here soon and was looking forward to being able to Tow the advertised 3500lbs, and even installed the hitch on my vehicle (which I just found out had an Engine Block heater, which is kinda neat to know!) But while reviewing the manual I noticed there was a caveat for the 3500lbs... "With Trailer Tow package installed".

I was wondering if anyone had any problems with towing in a 2.0l Ecoboost Turbo without the Tow package installed? Would like to Tow the 3500lbs without damaging my Transmission.
