This is regarding the 6f35 transmission on the Ford Escape years I believe 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 and 2017 as well as many years on the Ford fusion the transmission needs maintenance!!!! My transmission was at 230,000 miles and multiple places said it was shot, needed replacement or rebuilding. After an exceptional amount of research I have learned quite a lot concerning these Ford vehicles since the early 2000s. Maintenance. Oil changes. Always check and change. Most people know that. What we did not know is that the same now applies to the transmission. The fluid should be changed every 30k miles according to Ford and a flush at 75k miles because they no longer have filters. It is filtered by flushing, it is required. They can leak and run low. An easy fix is to drain the transmission. This is exceptionally easy on the 6f34. If you just want to change and not flush, buy 2 gallons of the recommended Mercon V, drain, then refill with the 2 gallons. If you want to be specific it's 9 quarts so add a quart to be exact. Make sure to always use the recommended and same brand transmission fluid. This has saved more "Failed" transmissions than you can imagine. Please learn your vehicle and understand that it this day and age, they will add work on your end just to charge you to do it.
