I found this today which I believe to be Hericium coralloides (Coral Tooth Fungus). It was found in southern Idaho underneath a log. It sounds like itās fairly common, identifiable, and edible but is it worth the risk to eat it? Can it be easily confused with anything else that isnāt edible? Additionally, there was (I believe) Nectria peziza around the coral tooth. Would this affect the edibility of coral tooth at all? I didnāt find any information on whether Nectria peziza is toxic or not.
Keep in mind that my photos are after I flipped the log, which pointed the teeth upwards.
If thereās any advice or recommendations on how to prepare this that would be appreciated as well. I donāt know how long it will be āgoodā for after I remove it. Any help would be great, thanks!
