Mctominay as CD?

Has anyone tried Mctominay as a central defender? He does seem to have good stats for same. I retrained him as a CD. I am not playing him there regularly but he is providing a decent backup. Just wanted to know if anyone has experimented with him or what everyone thinks about it?
