Probably not a very big deal, but how does the game decide the shortlist for both awards?

Just taking GOAL50's Top 50 players for example: I had three players (Gnonto, a CAM and a GK) make the list only after I've sold them to other clubs (CAM went to Man City, Gnonto and GK went to Real Madrid). In fact, I signed Gnonto after the very first season of the game for Liverpool, and up until he went to Real Madrid, he has never once made even the Top 50.

Throughout my entire time playing (long term save, currently 11 seasons in), I have never once had a player make beyond Top 20. Yet the moment they move, they immediately make Top 10. So, I'm here trying to figure out what I'm doing that's not giving any of my players a chance at these awards.

Is it because I rotate heavily? It seems like the players in the GOAL50 list are probably playing every single game every season (e.g. the likes of Mbappe and Haaland are mainstays).
