Does the game take into account opposing teams form?

I started a save with Spurs and i’m currently at the top of the table almost half season in, while for example Man city is currently at the mid. I see them struggling against other mid table teams, however when my team plays them, they turn turn into good ol’ Thanos like team and destroy us 20 minutes into the game. So this pisses me off a lot and i’m just curious about the answer to my question.
