Hi all! for a long while I've been working on the creative side of a custom German league system! It won't be ready before the end of the FM23, but while I iron out some of the techniques in the editor, I thought I'd start introducing you to the clubs! Starting (in alphabetical order) with the first Bundesliga club!
Borussia Winterberg, based in the town of Winterberg, North Rhine-Westphalia. The town is famous nowadays for winter sports and is for all intents and purposes a resort town, but from the early 1500s to the early 1700s, the town was the focus of several witch hunts, and witch trials. The tragic history made for a really cool inspiration for the badge, and I really love the simplistic design for this one!
The club was founded in 1924, as FC Winterburg 1924, during a rather tumultuous time in Germany for obvious reasons, and formed an instant sense of community for the people of the town. It was the first major sports team in the direct area, and served as a banner to rally behind, mainly due to the constant emphasis on the working class community surrounding the club. The club is still, 99 years later, a club for the people, and are playing in their 4th consecutive top flight season, and after a comfortable midtable finish last season, it looks like they will ring in their centennial in style!
