As a transgender person, do I use my assigned gender or my real gender when applying?

I am a transgender woman and I am trying to apply for snap benefits, and the section where it asks my gender has me slightly stumped. I want to make sure that if I mark my gender correctly, even though it doesn't line up with my legal gender marker, that I won't end up having a problem later on in the process
